About the journal
Ideas worth following across a border.
Castalia is an independent, author-led journal about mathematics, computer science, finance and economics. We publish in English.
Who writes
The journal is written and edited by its founding author. The opening essay, Martingales and Stopping, is credited to A. Kern. Each published essay carries its own byline.
Who it is for
For readers who enjoy a proof and want to know what it changes: students, researchers, programmers, and people who work with uncertainty. You need curiosity and a willingness to follow an argument; an essay should tell you which technical background it assumes.
What we publish
We publish finished essays with a question, an argument and enough detail to check the important steps. Proofs, worked examples, code and illustrations belong where they help that argument. A promising title or an attractive cover is still a work in progress.
We look for connections with consequences: a stopping rule that changes an option’s value, or a limit on information that changes an algorithm. This is an author-led publication; publication here does not imply independent peer review.
Corrections
Please report suspected errors with the article title and the relevant passage, including a counterexample or source if you have one. We check reports, correct confirmed errors, and add a dated note when a change affects the argument or conclusions.
